SoCon Announces All-Conference Wrestling Team
Gardner-Webb’s Davis, Chattanooga’s Rule Earn Top Individual Honors
SPARTANBURG, SC – Gardner-Webb’s T.K. Davis was named SoCon Wrestler of the Year and Chattanooga’s Kade Rule was named SoCon Freshman of the Year Thursday as the conference announced its 2026 postseason awards.
The Coach of the Year and Most Outstanding Wrestler will be announced at the conclusion of the 2026 Explore Asheville SoCon Wrestling Championships, which begin Friday (March 6) and conclude Saturday (March 7) at Kimmell Arena in Asheville, NC. Tickets are available here .
The head coaches from each of the nine teams in the SoCon voted on the awards and were not allowed to vote for members of their own team. A 10-man All-Conference team and All-Freshman team were also selected.
Davis (Rockmart, Ga. / Rockmart HS) is the first SoCon Wrestler of the Year in Gardner-Webb history. The redshirt sophomore earned the top seed at 133 pounds in this week’s Explore Asheville SoCon Wrestling Championships, going 8-0 in conference duals and 21-1 overall to build on last season’s SoCon Freshman of the Year accolade. He is ranked No. 18 in the most recent NCAA Coaches Ranking and is among the national leaders with 10 tech falls.
Rule (Mineral Point, WI / Mineral Point HS) was sharp this season for the Co-Champion Mocs, posting an 8-0 mark in SoCon duals and a 15-5 overall record. He recorded seven major decision and pinned five opponents.
Chattanooga led the way with four All-SoCon selections, followed by Co-Champions App State (2) and The Citadel (2). Davidson and Gardner-Webb each had one. Chattanooga also had a conference-best four selections to the All-Freshman team.
Championship action begins at Kimmel Arena on Friday at 10:00 am.
