SoCon Names Wrestler of the Week

The Citadel's Snipes Takes Home Second Weekly Honor of the Season

SPARTANBURG, SC – The Citadel junior Thomas Snipes was named Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for events held between January 14-January 20.

 

Snipes (Simpsonville, SC / Hillcrest HS) went 2-0 on the week, including a 5-3 SoCon decision over No. 21 Anthony Ferrari that powered the Bulldogs to a 26-9 conference win. He added a 6-4 decision over Rider’s’ Brendan Abdon to cap a busy day in Buies Creek, NC. Snipes has won eight of his last 10 bouts and is 15-4 so far this season. Snipes has posted 67 career wins with the Bulldogs, and his pair of dual wins this past week came on the heels of a strong 5-2 mark at the 2026 Southern Scuffle.

 

The Citadel (4-5, 1-0 SoCon) gets back into SoCon action this week, hosting Presbyterian at 6:00 pm on January 22 (ESPN+).
