SoCon Announces Wrestler of the Week

SPARTANBURG, SC – App State redshirt sophomore Aldo Hernandez was named Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for events held between January 7-January 13.

Hernandez (Asheboro, NC / Uwharrie Charter) helped the Mountaineers to a convincing 46-4 SoCon dual win on the road at Presbyterian, handling Ryan Luna in a 5-0 decision. Luna entered the match with 13 wins under his belt this season. Hernandez improved to 13-10 on the season with the shutout and has 34 career victories with the Mountaineers.

App State won five matches against Presbyterian by either fall or tech fall. The Mountaineers (4-4, 1-0 SoCon) return home on Thursday, January 15, to host VMI in another conference battle.
