SoCon Names Wrestler of the Week

SPARTANBURG, SC – Gardner-Webb sophomore T.K. Davis was named Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for competition held between November 12-18.

Davis (Rockmart, GA / Rockmart HS) picked up a pair of wins at the second annual Throwdown on the Yorktown, picking up a key 6-3 decision over No. 10 Braxton Brown of Maryland and beating Air Force’s Gavin Caprella by a 7-3 decision. The Runnin’ Bulldogs dropped a 27-13 dual to the 30^th-ranked Terrapins but held on for a 20-18 win over Air Force.

Davis, the defending SoCon champion at 133 pounds, moved to 4-0 this season with the pair of wins – which vaulted him to No. 11 nationally  in his weight class by IntermatWrestling.com.

Gardner-Webb (3-2) will travel to West Point, NY, on November 23 for the Black Knight Invitational, before opening its home schedule on December 3 vs. Duke. GWU will host Michigan State two nights later on December 5.
