SoCon Wrestler of the Week Announced
VMI's Patrick Jordon Earns Third Career Weekly Honor
SPARTANBURG, SC – VMI junior Patrick Jordon was named Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for competition held between November 5-12.
Jordon (Providence Forge, VA / New Kent HS) wrestled well for the Keydets in two duals last week, recording a quick fall in a win over Emory & Henry’s Luke Osborne in 98 seconds for his second victory of the season. That win helped VMI to a sweep over the Wasps in Friday night’s home opener. Jordon held his own on Sunday in Ann Arbor, MI, battling with Wolverines All-America and third-ranked Lachlan McNeil before falling in a 7-2 decision.
VMI (1-1) will be back in action on November 16, traveling to face Edinboro at Noon in the Keystone State. The Keydets’ next home duals come on November 22 against Mercyhurst (11:00 am) and Duke (3:00 pm). Edinboro is the alma mater of VMI head coach Jim Gibson, who was an NCAA qualifier for the Fighting Scots in 2007.
