Samford’s Nicastro named SoCon women’s golfer of the week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford’s Gabi Nicastro has been selected as the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for the week of Oct. 23-29. The selection is made by the league office and is the ninth of the season.  

Nicastro, a native of Huntsville, Alabama, earned this week’s recognition with rounds of 74-66-71 for a tournament score of 211 at the Mercer Invitational, which wrapped play on Tuesday. This performance placed Nicastro in a tie for first among the 70-player field—Nicastro's third tournament win during the fall season.  

Nicastro is currently ranked 60^th nationally through the first half of the 2024-25 season.  

Samford has concluded the fall portion of the season, and will return to the green on Feb. 1, competing against area-foe UAB.
