Samford’s Nicastro named SoCon women’s golfer of the week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford’s Gabi Nicastro has been selected as the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for the week of Oct. 9-15. The selection is made by the league office and is the seventh of the season.  

Nicastro, a native of Huntsville, Alabama, earned her second Golfer of the Week recognition of the season with a 77, 70, 71 performance in Arkansas. The Bulldogs competed at the Lady Red Wolves Classic, hosted by Arkansas State, placing fifth out of the 17-team pool.  

Individually, Nicastro placed sixth out of the 96 player field. Nicastro finished second in the field in par-3 scoring (2.93). 

The Bulldogs will visit the green of the Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, South Carolina on Oct. 21 to begin competition at the Terrier Intercollegiate.
