Chattanooga's Violeta Fernandez-Tagle named SoCon Women's Golfer of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga’s Violeta Fernandez-Tagle has been selected as the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for the week of Feb. 19-25.
Fernandez-Tagle tied for 11th during the Westbrook Invitational in Peoria, Arizona, on Feb. 23-24.
The Chattanooga sophomore shot rounds of 68, 73, and 69, for a total of 210 (-6), which is a career-best final score. Fernandez-Tagle played par or better on eight of every nine holes with 12 birdies to top athletes from Minnesota, Houston, and UNLV among other schools in the field.
The native of El Puerto de Sante Marie, Spain, is 11-under over her last 72 holes (69.00 avg).
The Mocs finished tied for eighth in the 14-team field.
Chattanooga will return to the green on March 7-9, as the Mocs travel to the Gators Invite in Gainesville, Florida.
