UNCG’s Romfo named SoCon women’s golfer of the week
Romfo shot 10-under par at the UNCG Collegiate

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG’s Ava Romfo has been selected as the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for the week of Oct. 16-22. The selection is made by the league office and is the eighth of the season.
Romfo, a native of Charleston, South Carolina, earned this week’s recognition with rounds of 68- 70-68 for a tournament score of 206 (-10), placing first on the individual leaderboard in Greensboro, North Carolina. Romfo’s 10-under-par shooting set a new career low, besting her previous personal record of 3-under-par.
Romfo tallied 16 birdies over three rounds, and helped lead the Spartans to a second-place team finish.
The Spartans have concluded the fall portion of the season and will visit the green of Hammock Creek in West Palm, Florida on Feb. 9 to being competition at the Advance Golf Partner Collegiate.
