Furman holds team lead, while the Mocs card day 1 individual leader
Round 2 set to being Tuesday at 9 a.m.
BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. – Furman leads the 2026 Southern Conference Women’s Golf Championship by three strokes, and Chattanooga’s Makenzie Cooper holds the individual lead after the opening round of play.
Cooper fired a 3‑under 69 to take a one‑stroke lead over Furman’s Audrey Ryu. The Mocs’ senior currently ranks first in par‑4 scoring, tied for second in par‑3 scoring, and second in total pars.
Furman, ranked No. 65 nationally—the highest among SoCon teams—shot a 1‑over 289 in Monday’s opening round. Chattanooga sits second after posting a 4‑over 292. The Mocs entered the championship as the third‑highest‑ranked SoCon team (No. 102 nationally) according to Scoreboard.
