Mercer's Scheck named SoCon Golfer of the Week
Finished in Top 20 at Florida State Matchup
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Katie Scheck has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competitions held March 18–24, the league office announced Wednesday.
The Bears competed at the Florida State Matchup on March 20-22.
Scheck finished tied for 16th after posting rounds of 73, 73 and 75. Her performance featured the carding of 36 pars over 54 holes, which was tied for fifth most in the field.
With this week's selection, the Mercer grad student has earned her fourth weekly honor of the season.
The native of Ooltewah, Tennessee, is the number one ranked golfer in the league, according to Scoreboard by Clippd. Scheck also has the highest national rank among SoCon golfers (#183).
Mercer will conclude its regular season schedule on March 29-30, when the Bears host the Houston Lake Invitational from Houston Lakes Country Club in Perry, Georgia.
