Samford’s Nicastro named SoCon Golfer of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford's Gabi Nicastro has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competitions held Feb. 11– 17, the league office announced Wednesday. 

Nicastro earned a 4 & 2 victory at the number three position as the Bulldogs played UAB to a tie during a match play event on Monday.  

The Samford junior has logged 15 rounds of play this year, with an average score of 72.3 per round in those outings.  

A native of Huntsville, Alabama, Nicastro now ranks third in the SoCon player standings, according to Scoreboard by Clippd.  

Nicastro has received the league’s weekly honor on two occasions this season.   

Samford now set its eyes on the Hunstville.org Intercollegiate, which begins on March 2.
