Samford's Nicastro named SoCon Golfer of the Week  

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford junior Gabi Nicastro has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competitions held Jan. 21-27, the league office announced Wednesday. 

Nicastro, the 2024 SoCon Freshman of the Year and 2025 SoCon Golfer of the Year, earned her first weekly recognition following a team-leading performance at the Sea Best Intercollegiate, which wrapped play on Tuesday.  

A native of Huntsville, Alabama, Nicastro posted a 7-over-par 223, finishing tied for 18^th in the 66-player field. Her performance included a tie for second place on pars in the event with a total of 41. 

Nicastro is currently ranked fourth among all SoCon competitors, according to Scoreboard by clippd.

Samford will travel to Charleston, South Carolina, to compete in Oyster Shuck Match play on Feb. 8-9.
