Mercer's Scheck Named SoCon Women's Golfer of the Week

Bears' grad student closed out the fall with an individual tournament title

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer graduate student Katie Scheck has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition held October 29–November 4, the league office announced Wednesday.

Scheck earned her third Golfer of the Week honor following a first-place individual finish at the Mercer Invitational, where she posted a 3-over-par 216.

A native of Ooltewah, Tennessee, Scheck led the Bears at their home tournament, helping secure a first-place team finish. Her performance included a tournament-best 3-under on par 3s, a fourth-place ranking on par 4s, and a total of 43 pars—leading all competitors.

Scheck is currently the highest-ranked Southern Conference women’s golfer nationally at No. 148 and holds the top spot in the conference after 15 rounds of play, according to Scoreboard by Clippd.

The fall portion of the season has concluded in the Southern Conference, with competition set to resume in January. Mercer will return to action in February at the FAU Paradise Invitational in Boca Raton, Florida.
