SoCon Announces Women's Golfer of the Week
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU freshman Sophia Gambini has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition held October 8–14, the league office announced on Wednesday.
The honor comes after Gambini delivered a standout performance at Wofford’s Terrier Intercollegiate, where she claimed her first career individual title in her debut collegiate season.
Gambini finished with a 1-over-par 217 over three rounds, carding even-par 72s in both the first and third rounds. She excelled particularly on par-4 holes, finishing 4-under for the tournament in that category. Additionally, she recorded an impressive 11 birdies, ranking as the tournament leader in the category.
Her individual success helped fuel the team title in the 14-team field. The win marks a strong close to the fall season for the Buccaneers.
With the fall slate now complete, ETSU will return to action on February 9, when they head to Florida for the Advance Golf Partners Collegiate, hosted by UNCG at the Hammock Creek Golf Club in Palm City, Florida.
Also nominated: Bella Kent (Wofford), Gabi Nicastro (Samford), Sadler Miller (Western Carolina)
