SoCon announces Women's golfer of the week
Scheck earns second consecutive weekly honor this season
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Katie Scheck has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition held October 1–7, the league office announced Wednesday.
The graduate student earned her second consecutive Golfer of the Week honor after securing her first top-10 finish of the season at the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Scheck tied for ninth in a competitive field of 78, helping lead Mercer to an eighth-place team finish. Her standout performance included a third-round score of 2-under-par. A native of Ooltewah, Tennessee, Scheck also recorded an eagle for the second straight tournament.
Currently ranked third in the Southern Conference, Scheck boasts a stroke average of 71.83 through Mercer’s first two events of the season.
The Bears return to action October 20 at Old Waverly Golf Club, competing in The Ally hosted by Mississippi State.
