SoCon Names Women's Golfer of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Katie Scheck has been named Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition held September 23-30, the league office announced Wednesday. 

Scheck, a native of Ooltewah, Tennessee, led the Bears as they competed at the Golfweek Sky Classic – held at the Par-72, 6,736-yard Red Sky Golf Club in Wolcott, CO. She finished tied for 12^th in a field of 100 players with a 4-under-par 212.  

The Mercer graduate student shot below her scoring average from last season (74) in all three rounds. Her performance included a second-round 68, her lowest round of the season so far. She recorded an eagle in her third round, helping Mercer finish in a tie for 10^th.  

The Bears return to the course for the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate beginning on October 5.
