Tuesday's Women's Basketball Roundup

UNCG 59, UNC Asheville 48

The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's basketball team earned a 59-48 win over Big South foe UNC Asheville (UNCA) on Tuesday in Fleming Gym. Jayde Gamble and Nia Howard led the Spartans in scoring with 14 points apiece. Freshman Nya Smith followed closely behind with 12 points. Khalis Cain tallied her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds, adding two blocks.

Samford 87, Montevallo 71

Samford graduate guard Sadie Stetson tied the school record for three-pointers in a game as the Bulldogs earned an 87-71 win over Montevallo Tuesday morning in the Pete Hanna Center. With the win, Samford improved its record to 2-5 on the young season. Montevallo is now 1-3 with the loss. The game was Education Day for Samford, with a large group of children from area schools attending the game.

Furman 81, USC Upstate 53

Sydney Ryan scored all 15 of her points in a decisive third quarter to help power Furman to an 81-53 win over USC Upstate in women's basketball action Tuesday evening at Hayes Gymnasium on the campus of North Greenville University. The win improves Furman to 3-2 on the season while USC Upstate falls to 1-4.

Wofford 95, Southern Wesleyan 35

After three games away from home, the Wofford women's basketball team returned to the Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium Tuesday night with a 60-point dispatching of Southern Wesleyan (SWU), 95-35. Wofford improves to 3-2 with the triumph, and the Division II Warriors remain 1-3 with the contest officially an exhibition for them.

Georgia State 68, Western Carolina 64

Zanoria Cruz led four Catamounts in double figures with 13 points with AC Carter and Tyja Beans both finishing with 11 points apiece. Kehinde Obasuyi – playing against her sister, Eghosa Obasuyi for Georgia State – chipped in 10 points including a pair of 3-pointers. The Catamounts had at least three double-digit scorers for the fourth time this season with four reaching double figures in a second-consecutive game.

Campbell 58, ETSU 51

East Tennessee State University women's basketball dropped to 1-4 after falling 58-51 to Campbell in Buies Creek on Tuesday. The Bucs were led by fifth year guard Courtney Moore, who tallied a season-high 13 points on 4-for-7 shooting from 3-point range. The Fighting Camels shot 11-for-35 from 3-point distance as a team. Olivia Tucker scored 24 for Campbell on 5-for-8 shooting from behind the arc, and Courtney Dalhquist added 17.
