Mercer’s Ashlee Locke named SoCon player of the week
Forward averaged a double-double this week
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Ashlee Locke has been named Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Nov. 4-11, averaging 18.5 points and 13 rebounds per game as the Bears went 1-1 in their first week of the 2024-25 season. This award is selected by the league office.
Locke started the season with a 14-point, 10-rebound performance in a 75-52 win over UNC Asheville on Nov. 4. The senior shot 60 percent in the paint and went 2-for-2 at the free throw line and tallied four assists and a blocked shot in the game.
Five days later, the Flowery Branch, Georgia, native got her second double-double, going 7-for-13 from the field and 9-for-10 from the line, tallying 23 points and 16 rebounds in a 58-48 setback against FAU. Locke also blocked a shot, registered an assist and got two steals.
Mercer (1-1) welcomes Western Kentucky on Tuesday, Nov. 12. The Bears then host North Carolina A&T on Sunday, Nov. 17.
