East Tennessee State University women's basketball thrashed Samford, 69-48, on Saturday afternoon.
The Buccaneer defense once again lived up to its billing at home, holding Samford to just 48 points. The outing marks the ninth time the Blue & Gold have held an opponent to under 50 points in 2024-25 after doing so nine times throughout the entire 2023-24 season.

The Samford women's basketball team dropped a 69-48 decision at ETSU Saturday afternoon at Brooks Gymnasium. With the loss, Samford fell to 5-14 overall and 0-3 in Southern Conference play. Chattanooga 60, Mercer 37

Tip your hat, Abbey Cornelius– there's a new record holder in town. After stepping on the court for Saturday's 60-37 blowout victory over Mercer, Sigrun Olafsdottir set a new program record for most career games played in a Mocs jersey after appearing in her 137th game in the win. The result marks the fewest points allowed by the Mocs to a SoCon opponent since logging a 47-32 win over Western Carolina back on Jan. 6, 2018.

Defending Southern Conference champion Chattanooga shot nearly 40 percent from the floor and used a 15-2 run in the second quarter to pull away for good as the Mocs got the better end of a 60-37 decision against visiting Mercer on Saturday afternoon in McKenzie Arena. The result marked the second-straight loss for the Bears (6-12, 1-2 SoCon) who will return to Macon next week for a pair of games in Hawkins Arena

Wofford 66, Western Carolina 53

The Wofford women's basketball kept up its stifling defense with a 66-53 victory over Western Carolina Saturday afternoon inside Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium. The Terriers improve to 11-5 with the win and 3-0 to open SoCon play. The Catamounts fall to 11-8 and 1-3 in league play. The result marks the 200th win in the illustrious career of head coach Jimmy Garrity. The total spans over his 12-year career between Anderson University and Wofford College.

UNCG 64, Furman 54

The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's basketball team earned a 64-54 victory over Furman in The Southern Conference (SoCon) play Saturday afternoon at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina. The Paladins, who got within five points at 54-49 following a fast break layup by Jada Session with 3:43 remaining before the Spartans reeled off eight consecutive points over the next three minutes to put the game away. Session was joined by teammate Tate Walters for game high scoring honors with 17 points apiece, but they were the only Paladins to reach double figures.
