Western Carolina’s Jada Burton named SoCon player of the week

Senior Guard registered first triple-double in program history

SPARTANBURG, S.C. Western Carolina’s Jada Burton has been named Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Dec. 24-30, after tallying 12 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists in the Catamounts’ lone game last week. This award is selected by the league office.

Burton led Western Carolina to a 112-53 victory over Southern Wesleyan on Monday night when she logged the first triple-double in program history. The Spartanburg, South Carolina, product went 6-for-10 from the field and secured three offensive and seven defensive rebounds. The senior guard also recorded four steals and a blocked shot.


Western Carolina (9-5) hosts Montreat on Thursday, Jan. 2.
