Diarra's season-high 18 points lead Mercer past Western Carolina
Mercer broke its streak of five consecutive losses in dramatic fashion, needing late heroics to defeat Western Carolina 71-66 on Saturday afternoon at the Liston B. Ramsey Center. The Bears were down by two at the break and trailed by as many as 13 points in the second half, but they were still able to pull off the comeback.
Nahawa Diarra scored 18 points to lead the way for Mercer.
Western Carolina was led by Avyonce Carter, who scored 21 points while collecting 10 boards.
Smith, UNC Greensboro defeat Samford in their second straight 10-plus point victory
UNC Greensboro recorded its fourth straight win, handing Samford a 78-66 loss at Fleming Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans went into halftime with a 42-27 lead and were able to hold off the Bulldogs for the final 20 minutes.
Nya Smith scored 22 points to lead the way for UNC Greensboro. Smith was dangerous from three-point land, connecting on 5-of-9 attempts.
The offense was effective for the Bulldogs despite the loss. They scored their 66 points on 40% shooting from the field.
Elisaldez's season-high 24 points lead Chattanooga past Furman
Chattanooga defeated Furman by a score of 68-60 at Hayes Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. The Mocs went into halftime with a 31-20 lead and were able to hold off the Paladins for the final 20 minutes.
Caia Elisaldez scored a season-high 24 points to lead the way for Chattanooga.
Furman was led by Sydney Ryan, who recorded 15 points and seven boards.
Lyons, ETSU defeat Wofford in their second straight 10-plus point victory
ETSU earned an impressive SoCon win on Saturday afternoon, taking down Wofford by a score of 63-50. The Buccaneers went into the break leading by three points, and then outscored the Terriers 36-26 over the final 20 minutes to secure the win.
Paige Lyons scored 15 points to lead the way for ETSU.
Evangelia Paulk recorded 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Helen Matthews contributed another 15 points to pace Wofford.
