Samford’s Emily Bowman named SoCon player of the week
Forward registered a double-double at Florida State
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford’s Emily Bowman has been named Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Nov. 12-18, averaging 17 points and 8.5 rebounds per game as the Bulldogs went 1-1 last week. This award is selected by the league office.
Bowman started her week with a double-double against Florida State. The senior shot 80 percent from the field and went 5-of-8 from the free throw line, registering a career-high 21 points while also securing 10 rebounds.
Three days later, the Huntsville, Alabama, native contributed 13 points and seven rebounds in just 12 minutes of playing time as the Bulldogs beat Fisk 112-61. Bowman went 5-for-7 at the line and shot 50 percent from the field.
Samford (1-4) welcomes Montevallo on Tuesday, Nov. 19. The Bulldogs then travel to Vanderbilt on Friday, Nov. 22.
