Chattanooga’s Elisaldez named SoCon Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. –  Chattanooga's Caia Elisaldez has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week presented by Ingles for games played on Feb. 17-23. 

The junior guard was Chattanooga’s leading scorer in their home wins against Western Carolina and UNCG last week.  

A native of Whittier, California, Elisaldez averaged 19.5 points on 56 percent shooting from the field, four rebounds, and 4.5 assists across both contests. Her performance included scoring 10 of Chattanooga’s 21 points scored in the fourth quarter against UNCG on Feb. 21, erasing an eight-point deficit to give the Mocs a 56-54 win. 

Elisaldez leads the league in points (16.0) and assists (5.2) per game. She has received the league’s weekly honor on two occasions this season.  

The Mocs will close out the regular season on the road as they face Samford on Feb. 26 and Mercer on Feb. 28.
