CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. ---&nbsp;The Chattanooga softball team learned its fate Sunday evening at the Ultra Club at Finley Stadium. The Mocs will head south to Tallahassee to take on #15 seed Florida State in the NCAA Regionals.
 &nbsp;
 The game will be aired on the ACC Network at 4:30 p.m. Friday. In the other side of the bracket is UCF and Auburn in the double elimination tournament.
 &nbsp;
 Chattanooga advances to the NCAA Tournament for the 16th&nbsp;time and second in three years.
 &nbsp;
 A LOOK AT THE REGIONAL BRACKET
 Florida State&nbsp;(43-14). The Seminoles are the No. 15 seed and hosting the tournament. FSU fell 6-3 to Duke in the ACC Tournament Championship Game. Four Seminoles were named to the All-ACC Tournament Team.
 UCF&nbsp;(30-23). The Knights placed five on the All-Big 12 postseason teams. UCF fell 3-2 to Baylor in the championship quarterfinal.
 Auburn&nbsp;(27-19-1). In 14 innings against No. 14 Georgia in the SEC Tournament, the Tigers fell in an inning that saw seven runs scored after 10 scoreless innings. It was the longest game in SEC Tournament history.
 Chattanooga&nbsp;(42-14). The top-seeded Mocs rallied out of the consolation bracket Saturday and swept two games from No. 2 seeded UNCG to claim their 16th&nbsp;SoCon Tournament title.
 &nbsp;
 A LOOK BACK AT THE CHAMPIONSHIP SWEEP
 The Mocs beat UNCG 5-0 in the opening game. In the bottom of the fifth with two on,&nbsp;<a href="https://gomocs.com/sports/softball/roster/anna-dovey/9317">Anna Dovey</a>&nbsp;drove a pinch-hit home run over the fence in left center for the first three runs of the game. With bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth,&nbsp;<a href="https://gomocs.com/sports/softball/roster/kaili-phillips/9088">Kaili Phillips</a>&nbsp;sent a hard hit to left field, driving in two more runs.&nbsp;<a href="https://gomocs.com/sports/softball/roster/peja-goold/9320">Peja Goold</a>&nbsp;struck out six in a complete game shutout.
 &nbsp;
 In the second game, the Mocs scored nine runs in four different innings to claim the title. After giving up one run in the first, the Mocs put two on the board in the second and two more in the third. In the top of the fourth, UNCG cut UTC's lead to one run, 4-3. Phillips made a diving catch on the infield in the top of the fifth and led off the bottom of the inning with a monster home run to left.&nbsp;<a href="https://gomocs.com/sports/softball/roster/addy-keylon/9083">Addy Keylon</a>&nbsp;followed with a home run in the next at bat.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga softball infielder, Kaili Phillips, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from April 24-30.  The selection is made by the conference office. 
  
Phillips went 3-for-7 last week and recorded a sacrifice hit to produce a .429 batting average. The Harrison, Tennessee, product contributed three home runs and five RBIs, slugging 1.714 as the Mocs went 4-0, including a sweep of conference foe Furman. In the field, she registered four putouts and logged 14 assists. 
  
The graduate student is studying for her Master’s Public Health and boasts a 3.50 GPA.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga infielder Kaili Phillips and Mocs right-hander Alyssa Lavdis have been named the Southern Conference softball player and pitcher of the week, respectively, for games from April 22-28. The awards are selected by the league office. 
  
Phillips hit .400, helping the Mocs to a 4-0 record last week. In the team’s 4-3 win at Tennessee State on April 23, the senior hit a two-run home run in the second inning. In the second game of squad’s doubleheader against Furman on April 27, Phillips hit solo home runs in the second and fifth inning as Chattanooga won the contest 3-0. The next day, the Ooltewah, Tennessee, native hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning during the Mocs’ 10-0 win over the Paladins, securing the series sweep for Chattanooga. Phillips’ four home runs this week moved her into third place in the SoCon in home runs this season with 14. 
  
Lavdis made three appearances, throwing two complete games, for the Mocs this past week. In the game with Tennessee State, the junior threw 3 2/3 innings in relief, striking out five batters and allowing two runs. The product of Concord, Ohio, tossed a complete game in the Mocs’ 3-0 victory on April 27, finishing the game with four strikeouts and zero walks. In the series finale, Lavdis pitched a no-hitter while facing the minimum number of batters in the five-inning contest. 
  
Chattanooga (34-13, 13-5 SoCon) hosts Georgia State on April 30, before traveling to Western Carolina (16-30, 7-11) for a weekend series on May 4-5.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG infielder Maycin Brown and Furman right-hander Sierra Tufts have been named the Southern Conference softball player and pitcher of the week, respectively, for games from April 15-21. The awards are selected by the league office. 
  
Brown batted .538 for the week, assisting the Spartans to a pair of conference road wins at Western Carolina. In the team’s midweek contest versus No. 3 Duke on April 17, Brown, a fifth-year player, blasted a solo homer to center field in the fifth inning, logging one of the five Spartan hits in the contest. On April 19, the Summerville, South Carolina, native had two doubles and a run scored as UNCG defeated Western Carolina, 6-1, to take the opening game of the series. In game one of the squads’ doubleheader the next day, Brown had two hits, including a solo home run in the sixth inning, in UNCG’s 6-5 victory in eight innings. During game two, Brown was 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs, a stolen base and two runs scored in a 13-5 setback for the Spartans. 
  
Tufts made three appearances, throwing two complete games and earning a pair of victories, for the Paladins this past week. On April 17, the senior pitched five innings, striking out five batters and allowing one earned run in the team’s 4-3 setback to Queens. In the first ever matchup between Furman and Wofford in softball on April 19, Tufts threw a complete-game shutout, allowing just one hit and striking out 10 batters in the Paladins’ 1-0 victory. The next day, the native of Chula Vista, California, logged another complete game, recording three strikeouts and giving up one run as Furman took the game by a score of 6-1. For the week, Tufts pitched 19.0 innings, striking out 19 batters and surrendering just two earned runs. 
  
UNCG (27-21, 9-6 SoCon) hosts Charlotte on April 24, before welcoming league-leading Mercer (21-23, 10-5) for a weekend series on April 27-28. Furman (21-26, 6-9) travels to Chattanooga (30-13, 10-5) for a weekend series on April 27-28.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga catcher/infielder Baileigh Pitts and Samford right-hander McKenzie Newcomb have been named the Southern Conference softball player and pitcher of the week, respectively, for games from April 8-14. The awards are selected by the league office. 
  
Pitts, who won the award on March 4, batted .500 over three games last week as the Mocs topped UNCG in two of those contests to win the weekend series between the two squads. In the opener on April 13, the sophomore finished a triple short of the cycle, going 4-for-4 with four RBIs and a run scored in a 6-3 win for Chattanooga. Later that day, Pitts had a hit and an RBI, which came from a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning, as the Mocs defeated the Spartans, 6-5, in nine innings. In the series finale on April 14, the Ringgold, Georgia, product recorded an RBI groundout in the third inning and an RBI single to center field in the fifth inning in Chattanooga’s 5-4 setback to UNCG. 
  
Newcomb, who was making her first start in two months, tossed a complete game shutout, logging a season-high 11 strikeouts for Samford as the Bulldogs defeated Furman, 5-0, in the first game of the two teams’ doubleheader on April 13. The junior from Meridianville, Alabama, allowed three hits and walked just one batter in the contest. 
  
Chattanooga (28-11, 9-3 SoCon) travels to Lipscomb on April 17, before hosting Mercer (19-21, 8-4) for a weekend series on April 20-21, in a matchup of the top two teams in the conference standings. Samford (14-26, 7-5) travels to ETSU (9-26, 3-9) for a weekend series on April 20-21.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Western Carolina infielder Sydney Dirks and Catamounts left-hander Tessa Juett have been named the Southern Conference softball player and pitcher of the week, respectively, for games from April 1-7. The awards are selected by the league office. 
  
Dirks batted .538 over five games last week as the Catamounts went 4-1. In the first game of a doubleheader at North Carolina Central on April 4, Dirks had a career-high three hits, two RBIs and one run scored in a 9-1 win for Western Carolina. She drew two walks and scored another run during game two of the doubleheader as the Catamounts won 7-5. On April 6, the freshman had two doubles, one walk, an RBI and two runs scored in an 8-3 win at ETSU. Later that day, the native of Mocksville, North Carolina, went 1-for-3 in a 2-1 setback versus the Buccaneers. In the series finale against ETSU on April 7, Dirks had a hit, a walk and a run scored as the Catamounts defeated the Bucs, 3-0, to conclude the weekend. 
  
Juett went 4-0 in four appearances, three of which were starts, inside the circle last week for Western Carolina. The junior carried a no-hitter through 4 2/3 innings in the first game versus North Carolina Central, eventually finishing the contest with eight strikeouts. In the second game against NCCU, Juett entered the game in the fourth inning with the score tied 4-4 and proceeded to strike out six batters and allow just one hit for the remainder of the game. In the first contest with ETSU, the Berea, Kentucky, native threw a complete game, recording nine strikeouts in the game. The next day, Juett tossed her third complete game of the week, finishing with five strikeouts and zero runs allowed. 
  
Western Carolina (12-20, 3-6 SoCon) hosts USC Upstate on April 10, before traveling to Wofford (14-16, 4-5) for a weekend series on April 13-14.
