<div class="payload-richtext">SPARTANBURG, SC – Western Carolina’s Tyler Jones was named 2026 Southern Conference Player of the Year, Chattanooga’s Evan Rogers was named SoCon Freshman of the Year and Chattanooga head coach Blaine Woodruff was named SoCon Coach of the Year Tuesday.  Voting was conducted among the conference’s eight head coaches. A 10-man All-Conference team and a five-man All-Freshman team were also selected. Jones (Jacksonville, NC / Jacksonville HS) paced the SoCon this season with a 70.31 stroke average. He finished in the top-3 individually six times during the regular season, including medalist honors at the JT Poston Invitational, the Compadres Collegiate, and the Wofford Invitational. Jones is one of three SoCon golfers ranked inside the top-200 nationally and was named SoCon Player of the Week a league-high four times this season – winning the first week on September 10 and the final week on April 15. Jones is the third Catamount to earn SoCon Player of the Year honors, joining J.T. Poston (2014) and Bruce Kullman (1991). Rogers (Duluth, GA / Hebron Christian Academy) was the top freshman on the SoCon tour and ranked as the top golfer nationally among all SoCon golfers at No. 178 after the conference championship. Rogers played 30 rounds this season, recording a strong 71.93 stroke average. He won the 2026 Racer Intercollegiate in Kentucky with a 7-under par 209 and earned SoCon Golfer of the Week honors following that medalist performance. Rogers finished third at the recent SoCon Men’s Golf Championship at Solina Golf Club in West Columbia, SC, leading the Mocs to their first team championship since 2013. Rogers was the lone golfer, regardless of class, to finish each of the three rounds under par (68-70-69). Rogers is the fourth Chattanooga golfer to earn SoCon Freshman of the Year honors and is the first since Andrew Weathers did so in 2015. Woodruff is the sixth Chattanooga head coach to earn the SoCon Coach of the Year award, and the first since Mark Guhne was chosen in 2012. Woodruff strategically positioned the Mocs for success with a challenging regular season schedule, which included a pair of sixth-place finishes in March at the Collegiate River Collegiate and Hootie Intercollegiate and a first-place effort at the Racer Intercollegiate on April 7. The Mocs were ranked No. 66 nationally in the most recent Scoreboard tabulation, 20 spots higher than the next closest SoCon team. Woodruff led the Mocs to their first SoCon team title since 2013 and seventh championship overall. Chattanooga will make its 10th appearance in an NCAA Regional. Chattanooga led the way with three All-SoCon selections, with sophomore Ward Harris and junior Camden Braidech joining Rogers.  </a>WEST COLUMBIA, SC – The 92nd Southern Conference Men’s Golf Championship will be played April 27-29 at Solina Golf Club for the first time. The club features a challenging 6,766-yard, par 72 course. Tee times for the first round begin on Monday morning at 9:00 and three 18-hole rounds will be played – one each day – until a team champion and individual medalist are crowned and tickets punched to the 2026 NCAA Men’s Golf regionals on Wednesday afternoon. ETSU is the defending team champion and will look for its sixth title in a row when play begins. The Bucs shot 28-under par in Greensboro, GA, last season to win by 10 strokes over UNC Greensboro. The Spartans boasted individual medalist Colin Dutton, who earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals with a three-day score of 206 (10-under par). Yannick Malik is the top returning finisher from ETSU’s championship, finishing one stroke back of Dutton last season with a 207. Gavin Tiernan (210) and Joshua Pritchett (212) are also back for the Bucs after finishing inside last year’s top 10 individually. The conference awarded 18 Golfer of the Week awards this season through both semesters, and 13 different golfers captured at least one honor. Western Carolina’s Tyler Jones won four times, Furman’s Harris Barth won twice, and UNC Greensboro’s Kelvin Hernandez won twice.  Jones leads the SoCon this season with a 70.24 stroke average over 29 rounds, followed closely by Samford’s Gavin Isbell(70.62), Mercer’s Henry Robards (71.26) and Barth (71.37). Tiernan (71.44), Chattanooga’s Ward Harris (71.56), Mercer’s JoseMaria Gutierrez (71.56), Malik (71.73), Western Carolina’s Jace Butcher (72.17), and Mercer’s Nathan Trodd (72.21) round out the top 10. ETSU’s team stroke average of 71.33 paced the conference during the regular season, followed by Western Carolina (71.75), Mercer (71.88), Chattanooga, and Furman (72.45). Chattanooga earned the highest team ranking from Scoreboard by Clippd, coming in at No. 67 in the most recent release. ETSU (81), UNC Greensboro (112), Furman (119), Western Carolina (124), and Mercer (150) are all ranked in the top 150 nationally. Monday’s first tee will signal the 92nd edition of the SoCon Men’s Golf Championship, which dates back to 1930 and features legendary champions in Wake Forest’s Arnold Palmer (1948 and 1949) and Furman’s Brad Faxon (1983). ETSU’s Remi Chartier holds the 54-hole championship record with an 18-under score of 198 in 2022 at The Oconee Course in Greensboro, GA. Arnold Palmer holds the 36-hole championship record, firing a 136 at the Old Town Club in Winston-Salem, NC, in 1949. Furman and UNC Greensboro will tee off on the first hole Monday at 9:00 AM to begin competition. <div class="payload-richtext">SPARTANBURG, SC – Western Carolina redshirt sophomore Tyler Jones was named Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for tournaments played between April 8 and April 14. Jones (Jacksonville, NC / Jacksonville HS) earned his fourth SoCon Golfer of the Week award after winning his third tournament as a Catamount – all this season. He shot all three rounds in the 60s to win the 2026 Wofford Invitational at the Spartanburg Country Club (6,720 yards, Par 71). Jones finished at 9-under par for the tournament, shooting 67-68-69 (204) to win by three strokes. He scored 6.34 strokes lower than the field average on the first two days and finished an average of 5.89 strokes better than the field for the tournament. Jones led the field with 41 pars and led the Catamounts’ quintet with 11 birdies. He also led the field in Par 4 scoring (3.82) and was second in Par 3 scoring (2.92). Jones leads the SoCon this season with a 70.24 scoring average over 29 rounds, with 15 rounds with a score in the 60s to date. <div class="payload-richtext">SPARTANBURG, SC – Chattanooga freshman Evan Rogers was named Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for tournaments played between April 1 and April 7. Rogers (Duluth, GA / Hebron Christian Academy) shot 70-69-70 (209) to capture medalist honors at the 2026 Racer Intercollegiate at the Country Club of Paducah in Kentucky. Rogers finished each round at least four strokes better than the tournament average, using 12 birdies and 37 pars to edge Austin Peay’s Patton Samuels (210) and teammate Camden Braidech(211). He finished with a 4.42 stroke average on Par 5 holes, which led the tournament. His 69.67 stroke average over 54 holes was more than five strokes better than the tournament average (74.87). Rogers was at his best in cool and windy conditions, with only 10 other golfers finishing under par for the tournament. It was Rogers' third top-10 finish of the season, and his highest since finishing fifth at the 2025 Visit Knoxville Collegiate in early September. He leads all SoCon freshmen this season with a 72.75 stroke average over 24 rounds. Rogers’ individual excellence lifted the Mocs to a team title on the 6,924-yard course, beating second-place North Dakota State by 20 strokes. Chattanooga posted a season-best 19-under par (845), which is tied for the sixth lowest team score vs. par in program history. <div class="payload-richtext">SPARTANBURG, SC – UNC Greensboro senior Dax Isbell was named Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for events played between March 25-March 31. Isbell (Cumming, GA / North Forsyth HS) paced the Spartans against a formidable field at the 2026 Maridoe Collegiate, hosted by North Texas at the Maridoe Golf Club in Carrolton, TX. The Spartans finished one stroke out of the top 10 in a tournament that included four top 20 teams and two teams ranked inside the top 10 nationally. The 7,569-yard course (Par 72) proved challenging, with wind gusts between 31-35 miles per hour and a high temperature of 84 contributing to an average score of 77.28 over 225 individual rounds and an average of 78.01 over the final 18 holes Tuesday. Isbell finished in a tie for 25th overall, rising four spots on the final day to finish one stroke back of No. 58 Gaven Lane of Oklahoma State. He earned 38.48 NCAA points after shooting 76-76-77 for the event, beating the field average by more than a stroke in each of the last two rounds. <div class="payload-richtext">SPARTANBURG, SC – Mercer sophomore Henry Robards was named Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for events played between March 18 and March 24. Robards (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL / Episcopal School) finished in a tie for 16th at the 2026 Linger Longer Invitational, played on the Great Waters Course at Reynolds Oconee in Georgia. He sank 15 birdie putts over three rounds, including nine over the first 18 holes to finish his first day with a 67 (-5). Robards carded a 30 over the back nine that day, recording six birdies and three pars. He followed with a 72 in the second round and closed with a 73 to finish 4-under par for the tournament. <div class="payload-richtext">SPARTANBURG, SC – Western Carolina junior Jace Butcher was named Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for events played between March 11 and March 17. Butcher (Kennesaw, GA / Mount Paran Christian School) won the 2026 Southern Intercollegiate in Athens, GA, finishing two shots under par for the event. He shot even par over the first 18 holes, then closed the tournament with a 70 to edge Georgia’s Matt Moloney by two strokes. Butcher’s individual effort lifted Western Carolina into second place behind host and 34th ranked Georgia, just three strokes off the team lead. Butcher also played well at the People’s Championship at Sea Palms, finishing in a tie for 7th at five shots under par. He turned in rounds of 68, 69, and 71 to help the Catamounts to a second-place finish in that event as well. <div class="payload-richtext">SPARTANBURG, SC – ETSU freshman Oli Blackadder was named Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for events played between March 4 through March 10. Blackadder (Aberdeen, Scotland) finished tied for eighth overall at the 41st Annual Louisiana Classic at Oakbourne Country Club in Lafayette, LA. He fired consecutive rounds of 68 to begin the tournament and finished six under par over 54 holes. Blackadder recorded an eagle in each of the first two rounds and sank eight birdie putts for the tournament. His efforts helped lead ETSU to a fourth-place finish as a team, just three strokes behind second-place Arkansas Little Rock. Blackadder led the event with his two eagles and ranked second in total pars recorded (38). ETSU will head to the west coast on March 16 for the Pauma Valley Invitational in Pauma Valley, CA. Also Nominated: B.J. <div class="payload-richtext">SPARTANBURG, SC – Chattanooga junior Camden Braidech was named Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for events played between February 25-March 3. Braidech (Scottsdale, AZ / Home School) tied for third at the 2026 Colleton River Collegiate hosted by Michigan State in Bluffton, SC. He led the Mocs to a sixth-place finish in the team standings, shooting 72-67-71 (210) for a 6-under par score after 54 holes. All 15 teams in the tournament were ranked inside the national top 100. After a first round with two birdies, Braidech heated up over the next 18 holes, sinking five birdie putts to finish at 67, with no bogeys. <div class="payload-richtext">SPARTANBURG, SC – UNC Greensboro junior Kelvin Hernandez was named Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for events played between February 18-February 24. Hernandez (Caguas, Puerto Rico / The Palmas Academy) finished in a tie for seventh individually at the Dorado Beach Collegiate, played at the 7,192-yard (Par 72) Dorado Beach Resort & Club East course in Puerto Rico. After a first round 74, Hernandez responded with back-to-back rounds under par, shooting 4-under par combined over his final 36 holes. He sank five birdie putts in the second round and three more in the final round to finish only four strokes out of first place. Hernandez shot five strokes better than the field in the second round and four better than the field over the final 18 holes. The Golfer of the Week honor is Hernandez’ second in the past three weeks. <div class="payload-richtext">SPARTANBURG, SC – Western Carolina redshirt sophomore Tyler Jones was named Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for events played between February 11-February 17. Jones (Jacksonville, NC / Jacksonville HS) finished second at the 2026 Wexford Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, SC, leading the Catamounts to a third-place team finish. Jones shot under par in all three rounds and closed to within one shot of medalist honors by the end of action Tuesday. He shot a 208 for the tournament (70-67-71-208) and closed with 11 pars in a row on Tuesday. He finished with 10 birdies and one eagle on the 6,884-yard Wexford Golf Club course. Jones has been named SoCon Golfer of the Week three times this season, including twice so far this spring. <div class="payload-richtext">SPARTANBURG, SC – UNC Greensboro junior Kelvin Hernandez was named Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for events played between February 4-February 10. Hernandez (Caguas, Puerto Rico / The Palmas Academy) finished the 2026 Palmas del Mar Collegiate tournament in a tie for seventh individually and led UNCG to a team finish of fourth in a field that featured a pair of top-50 teams and six teams from Power 4 conferences. After shooting even par in the opening round, Hernandez rallied with back-to-back rounds of 69 to finish tied with TCU golfer Sam Udovich in seventh position – only seven strokes off the lead. Hernandez sank nine birdies and recorded an eagle over his final two days. Three of the golfers who finished in front of Hernandez are ranked inside the top-100 nationally.
