East Tennessee State University softball lost in the morning contest, but bounced back in the evening to tally its first win of 2025 on opening weekend.
In the morning's game against UMass, the Buccaneer bats didn't wake up, as ETSU totaled just three hits against Olivia Cutuli. The Minutemen manufactured a pair of runs after a leadoff double in the fifth inning was followed by three singles. The two runs were the lone blemish on the day for Sara Muir, who went 4.1 innings with three strikeouts.Stonehill took advantage of four Furman errors to score eight unearned runs and held off a late rally to down the Paladins, 9-6, Saturday evening in the nightcap of the Paladin Invitational at Pepsi Stadium.Mercer rallied behind a strong pitching debut from freshman Grace Jones to slip past Florida A&M in Saturday's opener, and then used Tori Hedgecock's go-ahead grand slam in the bottom of the sixth inning to power past Austin Peay later in the afternoon, to fuel the Bears to a perfect day at the Heart of Georgia Classic.

The Blue & Gold then bounced back with a 15-6 victory over UConn.
The Spartans are now 2-2 this season. The win over the Huskies was the first win over a Big East school since March 4, 2022, when the Spartans won 6-2 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, during the Carolina Classic.

The Bulldogs fell late in their opener against the Mean Green before bouncing back to defeat the Chippewas in game two. Samford's record sits at 1-1 after their opening day while UNT moves to 2-1 and CMU sits at 0-3.The Mocs dropped its opening game Saturday 9-1 in a run rule finish before responding with double-digit runs in a 14-10 loss to host Stetson in the night cap.
Acelynn Sellers cranked out three home runs, becoming just the third UTC player to record three in a single game, and set a single-game total base record with three. She was 5-for-6 (.833) on the day with six RBI, a 2.333 slugging percentage and a .833 on-base percentage. Camryn Cernuto was 3-for-7 (.429) with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored.

Western Carolina 5, Jacksonville 1
Western Carolina softball continued its season-opening weekend tournament on Saturday at the River City Leadoff, claiming a 5-1 win over Jacksonville for its first victory of the season before falling to the host North Florida 8-0 in five innings at the UNF Softball Complex. The Wofford College softball team (3-1) earned two wins on day two of the Terrier Invite at Hope Field. The Terriers outlasted Youngstown State 5-3 to end round robin play and then defeated Towson 9-1 to earn a spot in the championship game of the Terrier invite.
