Saturday's softball roundup

WOF - In the final two games of a weekend series against Mercer, the Wofford softball team had back-to-back walk off wins to secure the first sweep in program history on Saturday afternoon at Hope Field. The Terriers (23-15, 5-4 SoCon) scored all seven of their runs on the day in the seventh inning to sweep the Bears (19-20, 1-6 SoCon).
MER - Wofford rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to eke past Mercer, 2-1, in the front half of Saturday's series-closing doubleheader, and then pushed across four runs in the bottom of the seventh in the finale to post a 4-3 victory and complete a weekend sweep of the visiting Bears on Saturday at Hope Field.

WCU - Western Carolina softball pulled the curtain back on a weekend series with Chattanooga on Friday night as the Catamounts rallied in the seventh inning with a home run before the host Mocs held on for the 4-2 series-opening victory at Frost Stadium. Junior Tate Stewman and senior Tessa Juett both homered in Friday's defeat.
UTC - Chattanooga softball fell in back-to-back games against Western Carolina in Southern Conference softball action Saturday afternoon at Frost Stadium.
The Mocs pitching staff struck out 22 batters and walked just four, but the Catamounts scored 10 runs, nine earned on 14 hits over the two games to claim the series win.
UNCG - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team defeated The Southern Conference (SoCon) foe Furman in a doubleheader on Saturday with scores of 9-4 and 5-2 to secure its second conference sweep of the season.
With the victory, UNCG also extended its win streak to seven.
FUR - UNC Greensboro hitters hammered five home runs on Saturday as the Spartans captured both ends of a Southern Conference doubleheader versus Furman to complete a three-game series sweep of the Paladins at Pepsi Stadium.
SAM - The Samford softball team was back in action today as they wrapped up a Southern Conference series by hosting ETSU for two games today. The Bulldogs came away with a 9-4 win before winning 10-2 in five innings in game two to finish off a sweep of the Buccaneers. The Bulldogs move to 26-15 after the wins and sit atop the league standings with an 8-1 record.

East Tennessee State University softball was on the wrong side of its first series sweep of the season.
After taking one game each from Western Carolina and Furman, the Bucs dropped their third consecutive SoCon series but didn't pick up a win against the Bulldogs; falling 9-4 and 10-2 (5 inn.) in a Saturday doubleheader.
