Chattanooga Take on Florida State in NCAA Softball Regional

Mocs travel to Tallahassee to take on No. 15 seed Florida State

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga softball team learned its fate Sunday evening at the Ultra Club at Finley Stadium. The Mocs will head south to Tallahassee to take on #15 seed Florida State in the NCAA Regionals.
 
The game will be aired on the ACC Network at 4:30 p.m. Friday. In the other side of the bracket is UCF and Auburn in the double elimination tournament.
 
Chattanooga advances to the NCAA Tournament for the 16th time and second in three years.
 
A LOOK AT THE REGIONAL BRACKET
Florida State (43-14). The Seminoles are the No. 15 seed and hosting the tournament. FSU fell 6-3 to Duke in the ACC Tournament Championship Game. Four Seminoles were named to the All-ACC Tournament Team.
UCF (30-23). The Knights placed five on the All-Big 12 postseason teams. UCF fell 3-2 to Baylor in the championship quarterfinal.
Auburn (27-19-1). In 14 innings against No. 14 Georgia in the SEC Tournament, the Tigers fell in an inning that saw seven runs scored after 10 scoreless innings. It was the longest game in SEC Tournament history.
Chattanooga (42-14). The top-seeded Mocs rallied out of the consolation bracket Saturday and swept two games from No. 2 seeded UNCG to claim their 16th SoCon Tournament title.
 
A LOOK BACK AT THE CHAMPIONSHIP SWEEP
The Mocs beat UNCG 5-0 in the opening game. In the bottom of the fifth with two on, Anna Dovey drove a pinch-hit home run over the fence in left center for the first three runs of the game. With bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth, Kaili Phillips sent a hard hit to left field, driving in two more runs. Peja Goold struck out six in a complete game shutout.
 
In the second game, the Mocs scored nine runs in four different innings to claim the title. After giving up one run in the first, the Mocs put two on the board in the second and two more in the third. In the top of the fourth, UNCG cut UTC's lead to one run, 4-3. Phillips made a diving catch on the infield in the top of the fifth and led off the bottom of the inning with a monster home run to left. Addy Keylon followed with a home run in the next at bat.
