SoCon Announces Rifle Athletes of the Month for November

Pohlmann, Eylander Shine for Nationally-Ranked Georgia Southern

SPARTANBURG, SC – Georgia Southern senior Emma Pohlmann and freshman Matilda Eylander were named SoCon Rifle Athletes of the Month for November.

 

Pohlmann (Nentershausen, Germany) earned the Smallbore award, and Eylander (Adelaide, South Australia) earned the Air Rifle award.

 

Pohlmann averaged a stellar 590 over two November SoCon matches, leading the No. 2 Eagles to road wins over No. 18 North Georgia on November 8 and VMI on November 15. She finished first out of 15 individuals in the win over North Georgia, scoring a season-high 591. Pohlmann followed with a second-best score of 589 out of 20 individuals in the win over VMI. Pohlmann averaged 585.375 in Smallbore during the fall section of the 2025-26 season. Pohlmann’s effort at VMI marked her second-best total this season.

 

Eylander tied her career best with a pair of 597 scores in the Eagles’ two wins. She has posted a 596 average over the past five matches for Georgia Southern and is averaging 594 in her first season with the Eagles. She finished second out of 16 individuals vs. North Georgia and second out of 20 individuals vs. VMI.

 

Georgia Southern (17-2, 4-0 SoCon) has built on its top-5 finish at the NCAA Championships last season, with its only losses so far this season coming to No. 7 TCU in tightly contested matches. The Eagles will be back in action on January 18, hosting No. 15 Air Force and The Citadel in Statesboro, GA.
