Georgia Southern's Bremen Butler earns January peformance recognition
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Georgia Southern’s Bremen Butler has been selected as the Southern Conference Rifle Athlete of the Month for January. Walrath has earned the honor in both smallbore and air rifle. The selection is made by the league office and is the third of the season.
Butler, a sophomore, averaged a team best 589.333 in smallbore competition in January. Against Murray State, Butler set a school record 594 in smallbore, which boosted her to a personal best aggregate of 1,191, tying the school aggregate record.
Butler averaged a team-best 597.333 in January’s three matches, with her best performance of the month being 598 versus third-ranked Kentucky.
Georgia Southern will resume regular season competition on Feb. 15 when they host UAB.
