SPARTANBURG, SC – Chattanooga senior
Ward Harris was named SoCon Men’s Golfer of the Week for tournaments played between October 14-20.
Harris (Birmingham, AL) captured his first collegiate tournament win on Tuesday, beating teammate Evan Rogers by two strokes for medalist honors at the 2026 Qubein Cup. The win was the third by a Chattanooga golfer this fall, with Rogers winning the other two for the Mocs.
The individual victory was the eighth for SoCon men’s golfers this fall.
Harris (69-70-67) battled throughout at the 6,953-yard (Par 70) Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, NC, particularly in the first round. After starting play on the 16
th hole, he found himself +4 after a double bogey, one birdie, and three bogeys over his first six holes. Harris did not flinch, recording a birdie on the fourth hole and an eagle on the fifth – then sank a pair of birdie putts over his final six holes to finish with a score of 69. He shot even par in the second round and finished with a crisp 67 to outduel Rogers for the top spot.
Harris’ 54-hole total of 206 is the lowest tournament score of his career. His tournament win is the 11
th for a Chattanooga golfer under coach Blaine Woodruff. With Rogers and Cam Braidech (t-6
th) finishing in the top 10 individually, Chattanooga captured the Qubein Cup team title as well on Tuesday. Braidech fired a sensational score of 65 on Tuesday to move up 18 spots in the field. The No. 48 Mocs defeated UTSA by 14 strokes in team scoring.
The defending SoCon champions are finished with the fall season and will be back in action on January 25-26 at the Pepperdine Southwestern Invitational in Westlake Village, CA.
