More than 1,500 student-athletes from 11 member institutions were named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll for the 2006-07 academic year.

Southern Conference athletic directors established the honor roll prior to the 1988-89 athletic year as a way to recognize the league’s outstanding student-athletes. After 364 earned the honor the first year, the honor roll has increased in 13 of the 17 subsequent years. The academic honor roll consists of student-athletes who participated in varsity sports at member institutions and posted a 3.0 grade point average or higher while passing at least 24 hours in two semesters of classes or its equivalent for other academic calendars.

The average GPA of the 1,503 student-athletes was 3.43, and greater than forty percent of the recognized athletes achieved at least a 3.5 grade point average. Fifty-eight student-athletes posted a 4.0 GPA including the following:
