Mercer’s Nemanja Stefanovic named SoCon player of the week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Nemanja Stefanovic has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for all competition from April 7-13. The selection is made by the league office.

Stefanovic got four wins playing in the No. 1 flight over a pair of duals against Samford and The Citadel last week. On April 7, the senior won 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), in singles, and combined with teammate Hod'Abalo Isak Padio for a 7-6 (7-3) win as the Bears had a 4-3 setback against Samford. The native of Oakville, Ontario, won in straight sets, and joined Padio again for a 6-1 win in doubles as Mercer topped The Citadel, 7-0, on April 11.

Mercer, who is the No. 4 seed, opens the SoCon Tennis Championship against No. 5 seed Furman at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee, at 1 p.m. on April 16.
