UNCG’s Tymofiy Khrystyuk named SoCon player of the week
Senior had two victories on court one
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG’s Tymofiy Khrystyuk has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for all competition from March 10-16. The selection is made by the league office.
Khrystyuk went 2-0 in singles at the No. 1 spot last week for UNCG. The native of Poltava, Ukraine, got his first win (4-6, 6-3, 6-2) over ETSU’s Oscar Matinez on March 11, giving Martinez, who has won SoCon Player of the Week three times, his first loss of the season. Two days later, the senior won, 6-4, 7-6, over Wofford’s Parker Mariencheck, helping the Spartans top the Terriers, 4-3.
UNCG plays its next match at Campbell on March 24.
