Chattanooga’s Jakub Jupa named SoCon player of the week
Junior gets three wins for the Mocs
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga’s Jakub Jupa has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for all competition from Feb. 17-23. The selection is made by the league office.
Jupa picked up three wins, each coming in the No. 1 flight, during Chattanooga’s duals with Tennessee Tech on Feb. 20, and Eastern Kentucky on Feb. 21. In a 4-3 win over Tennessee Tech, the junior won his singles match over Oliver Dao, 6-4, 6-2, and combined with teammate Cortland Grove for a 6-3 win in doubles. The next day, the native of Kladno, Czech Republic, defeated Nuno Pinheiro, 6-0, 6-2, in singles, accounting for the team’s lone point during a 4-1 setback.
Chattanooga hosts three duals this weekend. The Mocs welcome Toledo on Feb. 26, Austin Peay on Feb. 27, and Presbyterian on March 1.
