Furman’s Nico Snyder named SoCon player of the week
Sophomore gets three wins for the Paladins
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Nico Snyder has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for all competition from Feb. 10-16. The selection is made by the league office.
Snyder had three wins for Furman in duals against Coastal Carolina and William & Mary. In a 6-1 team setback at Coastal Carolina on Feb. 13, the sophomore got the squad’s only point after defeating Christopher Norlin, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 1 singles. Snyder’s win marked Norlin’s first singles loss of the season. On Valentine’s Day in a 4-2 victory over William & Mary, the native of San Juan Puerto Rico, combined with Nicolas Dispas for a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles, before getting a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 win over Gur Trakhtenberg at flight one.
Furman travels to Richmond, Kentucky, this weekend for duals against Tennessee Tech on Feb. 20, and Eastern Kentucky on Feb. 21.
