ETSU’s Oscar Martinez named SoCon player of the week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Oscar Martinez has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for all competition from Feb. 3-9. The selection is made by the league office.

Martinez, who also won the honor on Jan. 20 and Feb. 3, had two wins for ETSU in its 4-0 win over Presbyterian on Feb. 8. Competing at the No. 1 singles flight, the junior defeated Daksh Prasad, 6-0, 6-2. The native of La Guaira, Venezuela, teamed up with Kai Cowcher in doubles, winning 6-2 in their first match together this season. Martinez is currently 5-0 in both singles and doubles matches this season.

ETSU returns to the court at UAB on Feb. 17.
