ETSU’s Martin Vergara named SoCon player of the week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Martin Vergara has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for all competition from Jan. 20-26. The selection is made by the league office.

Vergara went 2-0 on Jan. 23, in ETSU’s 7-0 win over Tusculum. The redshirt sophomore teamed up with Kai Cowcher in doubles, winning 7-6 to clinch the doubles point for the Buccaneers. The native of Cuidad Del Este, Paraguay, won his No. 1 singles match, 7-5, 6-2, in the dual with Tusculum.

ETSU travels to Richmond, Virginia, this weekend for matches against DePaul on Jan. 31, and VCU on Feb. 1.
