SoCon men’s soccer players of the week announced
Mercer’s Agard, McMullen honored
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer defender Sekou Agard and goalkeeper Trevor McMullen have been named the Southern Conference men’s soccer offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all competition Aug. 27-Sept. 2.
Agard scored the game winning goal against Jacksonville on a pass from Carlos Santamaria in the 48th minute. The senior from Snellville, Georgia, now has two goals on the year, accounting for all the Bears’ goals this season. Against North Florida, Agard played 90 minutes in the backfield for the Bears in a scoreless draw.
McMullen recorded back-to-back clean sheets for the Bears this week. The Decatur, Georgia, product faced seven shots and made seven saves this week, improving his total to 10 for the season. Against Jacksonville, the graduate goalkeeper made four saves on four shots, then had three saves on three shots against North Florida. He currently holds a .769 save percentage this season, second in the conference.
Mercer (1-1-2) hosts Memphis on Thursday before welcoming Southern Indiana on Sunday.
