Men’s soccer players of the week announced

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG forward Arnaud Tattevin and Furman defender Slade Starnes have been named the Southern Conference men’s soccer offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all competition Oct. 15-21.

Tattevin led the Spartans with three goals and an assist for seven points last week against Elon and Wofford. Against the Pheonix, the sophomore forward scored two goals, including the game-winning goal, and logged an assist for a season-high five points in the 4-1 victory. On Saturday, the Rennes, France, native scored in a 2-3 setback at Wofford.

Starnes led the Paladins to a 2-0 record this week, logging two assists and a goal. The junior defender assisted on both goals in the opening 14 minutes of a 2-0 win at Presbyterian. The Dallas, Texas, product then scored the opening goal less than four minutes into a 4-1 victory against VMI. Starnes’s goal against VMI marked his first of the season.

UNCG (7-2-4, 1-1-1 SoCon) host UNC Wilmington on Wednesday, then travels to VMI on Saturday. Furman (6-3-2, 1-1-0 SoCon) hosts Wofford on Tuesday, then goes to ETSU on Saturday.
