SoCon Announces Men's Soccer Players of the Week

SPARTANBURG, SC – UNCG forward Arnaud Tattevin and VMI defender Jack Yough were named Southern Conference offensive and defensive players of the week for matches held from October 28-November 1.

Tattevin (Rennes, France / ETP Odorico) scored twice in the No. 19 Spartans’ 3-0 win over second-seeded Mercer in the regular season finale, securing the third seed for UNCG in the upcoming SoCon Men’s Soccer Championships. His goal in the 67^th minute proved to be the game winner, and his score on a penalty kick in the 79^th minute sealed the win. Tattevin has eight goals and two assists (18 points) in 16 starts this season for the Spartans, elevating his career stats to 22 goals and 48 points with another strong campaign. Tattevin has five game winners in his career, with four coming this season.

Yough (Poughkeepsie, NY / Our Lady of Lourdes) lifted VMI to its first SoCon win since October 19, 2002, snapping an 87-match losing streak that spanned 8,414 days. The freshman played 90 minutes of strong defense, holding ETSU scoreless until the 87^th minute in a 2-1 victory. He netted an unassisted goal in the 50^th minute to provide the difference on a historic day for the Keydets. Yough leads VMI with three goals on the season, including a pair of game winners.

UNCG and VMI will square off Friday evening in the SoCon quarterfinals in Macon, GA. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm on the pitch at Mercer’s Betts Stadium. Tickets for the match are available  here .
