SoCon announces Indoor Field Athlete of the Week

VMI’s Thomas earns second consecutive recognition

SPARTANBURG, S.C. –VMI’s Cameron Thomas has been selected as the men’s  indoor field athlete of the week, the conference office announced Wednesday.

Selections were made by panels of the league’s track and field coaches and included all competitions from Jan. 21-27.

The Keydets hosted the VMI Invitational on Jan. 23.

Thomas jumped to first place and extended his personal record by .01m with a final mark of 5.12m in the pole vault. The mark leads the conference and resets the school record that he set just a week before.

A native of Windsor, Colorado, Thomas has bested his performance from last year’s indoor conference championship by .12m.

VMI is set to travel to Lynchburg, Virginia, to compete in the Brant Tolsma Elite Invitational on Jan. 29-30.
