SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford’s Bradley Franklin and Jaggerd Moore have been named the Southern Conference men’s indoor track and field athletes of the week, respectively. Additionally, Samford’s Ayden Drake and ETSU’s Tya Blake claimed women’s track and field athlete of the week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Wednesday.&nbsp;&nbsp;Selections were made by panels of the league’s track and field coaches and included all competition from Feb. 12-18.&nbsp;Samford hosted the Bulldog Invite and Open on Feb. 14-15. &nbsp;Franklin won the 60m with a time of 6.82. He also competed in the 60m hurdles, claiming the top spot with a time of 7.84, finishing just over his top time this season. &nbsp;Moore claimed a victory in the high jump with a personal best mark of 2.14m. This mark leads the conference this season. &nbsp;Drake ran a personal best of 56.47 in the 400m, which leads the conference. Samford’s 4x400 relay squad, which Drake anchored, finished in 3:47.08 to lead the conference, also setting a new school record. &nbsp;On Feb. 15, Blake competed at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational hosted by Liberty. During the meet, Blake jumped a personal best of 11.92m in the triple jump, landing her second in the conference. SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Chris Knight and Samford’s Brenden Vanderpool have been named the Southern Conference men’s indoor track and field athletes of the week, respectively. Additionally, ETSU’s Micailah Cook and Wofford’s Sherika Christie claimed women’s track and field athlete of the week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Wednesday.&nbsp;&nbsp;Selections were made by panels of the league’s track and field coaches and included all competition from Feb. 5-11.&nbsp;Knight competed in the Bruce Lehana Scarlet and White Invitational, hosted by Boston University on Feb. 8. Knight finished 23rd in the 3,000m with a time of 8:05.90. His performance ranks him first in the SoCon this season. &nbsp;On Feb. 7, Vanderpool won the pole vault at the UAB Invite, clearing 5.53m. With this performance, Vanderpool moved to 16th in the country in the event. &nbsp;&nbsp;During the Camel City Invitational, Cook finished third in the 200m with a time of 24.94. This time ranks third in the conference. Cook also competed in the 60m, recording a time of 7.73. This performance placed Cook fourth in the event and fourth in the conference. &nbsp;Christie won the women’s triple jump at the VMI Winter Classic. With a mark of 12.53m, Christie jumped to lead in the conference rankings. Christie also competed in the shot put, placing fourth with a mark of 12.07m. &nbsp;Samford and Wofford will compete at the Samford Bulldog Invite in Birmingham, Alabama, on Feb. 14-15. SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Matthew Smith and Samford’s Carter Ellis have been named the Southern Conference men’s indoor track and field athletes of the week, respectively. Additionally, Furman’s Megan Marvin and Western Carolina’s Lexie Durban claimed women’s track and field athlete of the week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Wednesday.&nbsp;&nbsp;Selections were made by panels of the league’s track and field coaches and included all competition from Jan. 29 – Feb. 4. &nbsp;Smith competed in the Gamecock Challenge hosted by South Carolina on Feb. 1. Smith finished second in the mile with a time of 4:00.38. His performance is the fastest time in the SoCon this season.&nbsp;On. Feb. 2, Ellis finished fifth among competitors at the South Alabama Invitational in the pole vault. Clearing 5.23m, Ellis set a new personal best and now leads the conference with this performance. &nbsp;During the Bob Pollock Invitational on Feb. 1, Marvin finished second in the 800m with a time of 2:06.36. This time leads the SoCon this season and ranks Marvin&nbsp;45th in the NCAA in the event. Also running the 1200 leg of the distance medley relay, Marvin helped the squad to a second-place finish with a time of 11:20.25, which established a new program record in the event.&nbsp;Durban won the women’s shot put at the VMI Winter Relays on Jan. 31. Durban threw for a 12.73m final mark, claiming a personal record for the Catamount freshman. &nbsp;Samford continues competition in Birmingham, Alabama, at the UAB Invite on Feb. 7. Additionally, VMI’s Eleyah Armstrong and Wofford’s Sherika Christie claimed women’s track and field athlete of the week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Wednesday.&nbsp;&nbsp;Selections were made by panels of the league’s track and field coaches and included all competition from Jan. 22-28.&nbsp;On Jan. 24-25, VMI hosted the VMI Invitational. During the event, Edwards claimed a second-place finish in the 400m with a time of 48.88. His performance is the second fastest time in the SoCon this season. &nbsp;Clendenin racked up two top five finishes at the VMI invitational, placing fourth in weight throw and fifth in shot put, with distances of 16.52m and 15.17m, respectively. The 16.52m recorded in the weight throw is a new personal best for the sophomore. &nbsp;Armstrong ran the 60m race in a time of 7.48 during the preliminary round of the VMI Invitational on Jan. 24, to lead SoCon performances. In the finals, Armstrong placed third, finishing with a time slightly above her prelim performance at 7.54. &nbsp;On Jan. 24, Christie, a sophomore, set a personal best in the pentathlon with 3,694 points, claiming second place at the Orange and Purple Invitational in Clemson, South Carolina. Christie also competed in the shot put, long jump, and high jump events, finishing first, second, and second, respectively. SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford’s Bradley Franklin and VMI’s Keyandre Midgett have been named the Southern Conference men’s indoor track and field athletes of the week, respectively. Additionally, Furman’s Megan Marvin and Samford’s Antonina Tereshchenko claimed women’s track and field athlete of the week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Wednesday.&nbsp;&nbsp;Selections were made by panels of the league’s track and field coaches and included all competition from Jan. 15-21.&nbsp;On Jan. 17, Franklin, a freshman, claimed the top spot in the 60m hurdles at the Samford Invitational with a time of 7.65, which broke a Samford school record in the event. Franklin's 7.65 is the fastest time any SoCon runner has logged in the event this season. Also, his&nbsp;performance is the second fastest time in the nation this season, ranking him sixth in the country.&nbsp;Midgett, the reigning SoCon Indoor Long Jump champion, finished fifth at the Virginia Tech Invite on Jan. 17 with a conference leading distance of 7.05m. Midgett also competed in the triple jump and recorded a&nbsp;season-best distance of 14.53m. &nbsp;Marvin, the reigning SoCon 800m champion, competed in two events at the Vanderbilt Invite on Jan. 17-18. She recorded the top conference performances in the 1K and mile runs, with times of 2:45.91 and 4:47.20, respectively.&nbsp;Tereshchenko recorded a personal best at the Samford Invitational in the pole vault, with a mark of 3.82m. SPARTANBURG, S.C. – VMI’s Zachary Denton and Cameron Thomas have been named the Southern Conference men’s indoor track and field athletes of the week, respectively. Additionally, VMI’s Naturale Faison and Morgan Fraser claimed women’s track and field athlete of the week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Wednesday.&nbsp;&nbsp;Selections were made by panels of the league’s track and field coaches and included all competition from Jan. 10-14.&nbsp;The VMI indoor track and field teams opened their season at home, competing in the VMI Team Challenge on Jan. 11.&nbsp;&nbsp;Denton claimed second-place in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.31. Along with his strong sprint performance, Denton also competed in the men’s long jump, finishing first with a 7.03m mark. The sophomore leads the SoCon in both disciplines.&nbsp;&nbsp;Thomas opened the season with a win in the pole vault, clearing 5.10 m, breaking a 23-year-old indoor school record. The sophomore finished in the top 5 of pole vaulters at last season’s Indoor SoCon Championships and currently leads the SoCon in the event.&nbsp;&nbsp;Faison clocked a time of 7.72 in the 60m dash, earning her first place at her first collegiate race and placing her second in the conference this season. 2025 Indoor Track & Field Championship

SPARTANBURG, S.C. –&nbsp; Furman’s Kaylie Armitage and Dylan Schubert have been named the Southern Conference women’s and men’s indoor track athlete of the week, respectively, the conference office announced Wednesday.&nbsp;Selections were made by panels of the league’s track and field coaches and included all competition from Dec. 6-10. There were no women’s or men’s indoor field nominees this week.&nbsp;&nbsp;On Dec. 7, Armitage competed in the 3,000m at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at Boston University where she placed 32nd overall, winning her heat, with a time of 9:14.06. The junior from Exeter, Rhode Island, is now ranked 24 in the NCAA and this performance placed her in the conference lead to begin the season.&nbsp;&nbsp;Competing at the same meet, Schubert placed fifth overall in the 5,000m with a time of 13:17.89. The Loveland, Colorado, native set a new program record, besting the record he set last season. 2025 Indoor Track & Field Championships

SPARTANBURG, S.C.&nbsp;– Wofford earned all four women’s honors while Samford and VMI each claimed two men’s awards as the Southern Conference indoor track and field men’s and women’s specialty awards were announced Wednesday.

 The awards were voted on by the league’s nine indoor coaches.

 Samford graduate student Cagan Campbell, who earned the Heath Whittle Award (Most Outstanding Athlete) as the top point-scorer at the SoCon Indoor Track and Field Championships, was voted the men’s Most Outstanding Track Performer after scoring 25 points at the SoCon Indoor Track and Field Championships over the weekend. The Tuscaloosa, Alabama, native medaled in three events on the track, placing third in the 60-meter dash and followed that up with a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.72. Campbell capped his big Sunday with a win in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.42. Campbell helped the Bulldogs to their fifth straight men’s team title.

 Wofford’s Jasmine Jefferson was named the women’s Most Outstanding Track Performer after posting a pair of wins. The senior from Knoxville, Tennessee, claimed the 400m and 200m title on Sunday, securing 20 points for the Terriers. She ran a personal best and meet record in the 400m with a time of 54.22, before setting another personal best in the 200m, finishing in 24.13 seconds.

 Wofford’s Sherika Christie, the tournament MVP on the women’s side, earned Most Outstanding Field Performer and Female Freshman of the Year after collecting 25 points for the Terriers throughout the weekend. On Saturday, the St. Catherine, Jamaica, product took the women’s pentathlon crown, tallying 3641 points after wins in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 8.91, and the long jump, with a leap of 5.96 meters. Later that day, Christie competed in the long jump and shot put field events, coming in fourth and ninth, respectively. She finished her dominant weekend with the triple jump title, setting a new personal best of 12.38 meters.

 VMI’s Keyandre Midgett, who won this award a season ago, was voted the Male Most Outstanding Field Performer after posting a pair of wins in the long jump and triple jump. The senior from Portsmouth, Virginia, finished first in the long jump on Saturday with a distance of 7.49 meters. On Sunday, he set a new facility record, at his home track at the Corps Physical Training Facility, with a leap of 15.57 meters and totaled 20 points for the Keydets for the weekend.

 Keydet Rafe Clendenin was named the men’s Freshman of the Year after scoring 16 points for VMI. The San Antonio, Texas, native claimed second place after recording personal bests in the shot put and weight throw. On Saturday, Clendenin tossed a 15.18 in the shot put before producing a 15.60 meter weight throw on Sunday.

 For the fifth straight season, Samford’s Rod Tiffin was awarded Men’s Coach of the Year after leading the Bulldogs to their fifth consecutive Indoor Track and Field Championship. On the Women’s side, Wofford’s Johnny Bomar was honored as Coach of the Year after leading his Terriers to a second-place finish and specialty awards sweep.&nbsp;

SoCon indoor track & field specialty awards announced

BOSTON, Mass. -- Furman senior&nbsp;Carson Williams&nbsp;earned second team All-America honors in the mile Friday at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the The Track at New Balance, in Boston, Mass. &nbsp;A native of Raleigh, N.C., Williams was one of multiple runners to get tangled up in the next to the last lap of the event.&nbsp; He recorded a time of 4:20.88 to finish 15th in the event, where the top ten finishers were separated by just over a second.&nbsp; He qualified for the meet after ranking 16th nationally with a time of with a time of 3:55.46 in the event, a Furman program record which he posted Jan. 19 at the Carolina Challenge in Columbia, S.C. &nbsp;Williams, who also recorded a sub-4:00 mile last season, most recently won the 3,000m title and finished second in the 800m at the SoCon Indoor Championship.&nbsp; Last season he was honored as an All-American for the second-straight outdoor season after placing 11th in the 3,000m Steeplechase at the NCAA Championships.&nbsp;
