ETSU maintains lead at SoCon Men’s Golf Championship after day two

Bucs’ Ege leads at 12-under-par

GREENSBORO, Ga. – ETSU holds a four-stroke lead at the 2024 Southern Conference Men’s Golf Championship following the second round of play at par-72, 7,393-yard Oconee Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Georgia. ETSU’s Mats Ege holds the individual lead at 12-under-par 132.
 
The Buccaneers shot a 9-under-par 279 in round two after finishing the first round with a 13-under-par 275 to make their tournament score 22-under 554 following the second round. Chattanooga had the best team score of the day at 14-under 274 to close its deficit to four strokes after shooting a 4-under 284 in round one.
 
UNCG moved up one spot into third place at 3-under 573 after a second-round score of 5-under 283. Furman is in fourth at 1-over 577, while Wofford is fifth at 4-over 580, with Terriers up one spot after day one. Mercer is sixth after shooting even-par 288 on day two to make its overall score 8-over 584. Western Carolina is in seventh place at 23-over 599 and Samford rounds out the leaderboard at 26-over 602.
 
Ege and Chattanooga’s John Houk posted the best individual rounds of the day after each shot 7-under 65. Ege recorded seven birdies during round two and Houk is the only golfer that has posted an eagle during each round. Houk sits in second on the individual leaderboard at 10-under-par 134.
 
ETSU’s Matthew Dodd-Berry is third at 9-under 135 and Samuel Espinosa of Chattanooga is fourth at 8-under 136. A pair of golfers – Mercer’s Tobias Jonsson and Wofford’s Ben Jordan – are tied at fifth at 5-under 139.
