Western Carolina’s Cline named SoCon men’s golfer of the week
Had career numbers at the Vaqueros Intercollegiate

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Western Carolina’s Chase Cline has been selected as the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from Jan 27-Feb. 4. The selection is made by the league office.
Cline finished tied for second at the Vaqueros Intercollegiate in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, which wrapped play on Tuesday. The freshman posted rounds of 72-70-70 for a tournament score of 212 (-4). The native of Chapin, South Carolina, led the tournament in par-5 scoring (4.42) and was one of 12 golfers in the event to record an eagle. Cline’s 212 and second place finish were both career-best for his Catamount career.
Western Carolina finished seventh in the 15-team, 89-golfer field, with a tournament score of 902. The Catamounts shot 315 in the first round, 293 in the second round and 294 in the final round.
The Catamounts will play their next tournament at the Gulf Coast Collegiate in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Feb. 24-25.
