The SoCon Announces Men’s Golfers of the Week

SPARTANBURG, SC – ETSU freshman Erik Tjarnberg and Tennessee Tech sophomore Jacob Rose were named SoCon Co-Golfer of the Week for events played between September 16-22.

Both golfers captured medalist honors in their respective tournaments.

Tjarnberg (Stockholm, Sweden) also led the Bucs to the team championship at the 2026 Highlands Invitational presented by Turtleson in Westchester, IL, with a stellar finish. After shooting 2-under par (70) in the opening round at Chicago Highlands Golf Club, Tjarnberg heated up on Monday with six birdies and an eagle to card a 67 and move back into contention. He was even better in the final round, firing a 65 to finish three strokes ahead of Wake Forest golfer Jorge Hao. 

His eagle on the final hole of the day was the difference maker in the team trophy making its way to Johson City. The Bucs won the team title by one stroke over Wake Forest.

Tjarnberg finished 9-under par on the course’s Par 5 holes (4.25 average), the tournament’s top effort/ He also led the field with three eagles and finished with 14 birdies to pace ETSU. Tjarberg’s final round 65 is the fourth-lowest score over 18 holes in program history.

Rose (Knoxville, TN) shot a 9-under par 201 (67-66-68) to win the 2026 GMAC Invitational at Inverness Country Club in Birmingham, AL. He shared the honor with Jacksonville State golfer Will Drake. Rose birdied the 18^th hole on the final day to remain atop the leaderboard and finished the tournament with 17 birdies – including six on the final day.

Rose paced the field in Par 4 scoring (3.75) and birdies, helping the Golden Eagles into a tie for sixth with Austin Peay. It is the second time this season that Rose has earned Co-Golfer of the Week honors.
