SoCon Announces Men’s Golfers of the Week

SPARTANBURG, SC – Tennessee Tech sophomore Jacob Rose and Mercer sophomore Phillips Swift were named SoCon Men’s Co-Golfers of the Week for tournaments played between September 2-8.

The duo tied for seventh at the 2026 Golfweek Fall Challenge, played on the 7,024-yard (Par 72) True Blue course on Pawley’s Island, SC.

Rose (Knoxville, TN) used a sizzling second round score of 67 to power his week, sitting second on the leaderboard after 36 holes. He recorded a birdie on the fourth hole and an eagle on the 10^th in the final round.

Swift (Macon, GA) shot his own smoldering round, starting hot on Sunday with a 67 to finish the first 18 holes only one stroke behind the leader. He shot 1-under par on Monday and finished with a 72 on Tuesday to move into a tie for seventh with Rose.

Both golfers finished only four strokes out of first place in a tightly-packed field.

Tennessee Tech and Mercer also finished in a tie for the team championship, with both sitting in fifth alongside UT Martin and Old Dominion.
