SoCon Names Men's Golfer of the Week for February 11

SPARTANBURG, SC – UNC Greensboro junior Kelvin Hernandez was named Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for events played between February 4-February 10.

Hernandez (Caguas, Puerto Rico / The Palmas Academy) finished the 2026 Palmas del Mar Collegiate tournament in a tie for seventh individually and led UNCG to a team finish of fourth in a field that featured a pair of top-50 teams and six teams from Power 4 conferences. After shooting even par in the opening round, Hernandez rallied with back-to-back rounds of 69 to finish tied with TCU golfer Sam Udovich in seventh position – only seven strokes off the lead. Hernandez sank nine birdies and recorded an eagle over his final two days. Three of the golfers who finished in front of Hernandez are ranked inside the top-100 nationally. Hernandez finished only one stroke out of third place, finished with 14 birdies overall and ranked second in the field with an average of 4.33 strokes on par five holes.

UNC Greensboro will remain in Puerto Rico for its next tournament, playing in the 2026 Dorado Beach Collegiate at TPC Dorado Beach in Dorado, Puerto Rico.
