SoCon Announces Men's Golfer of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford sophomore Gavin Isbell was named SoCon Men’s Golfer of the Week for tournaments played from October 7 to October 14, the league office announced Wednesday.

Isbell (Trussville, AL / Hewitt-Trussville HS) finished tied for fourth at the 2025 Turtle Point Invitational in Killen, AL, helping his Bulldogs to a third-place team finish in the event. Isbell turned in a low score of 66 in the first round, using five birdies and an eagle to power a sizzling round. He finished with a 71 in the second round, and used four birdies in the final round to finish the tournament at 9-under par. The event was played at the 7,065-yard (Par 72) Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club course and hosted by the University of North Alabama.

Samford will travel to West Palm Beach, FL, on October 27-28 for the Florida Atlantic Invitational, wrapping up its fall season with that tournament.
